About Me

I'm Angélique Glennon

INSPIRATION

My 6-year old child’s project: seeds and grains to make an owl. I thought “I can use a material to make something different”. At 24 years old: I used a broken guitar string to make earrings. Phone cables left behind by the phone company? I created jewelry with them. I sold my artwork locally in France before moving to the US. “Unusual materials” in jewelry became the Unfunction Collection™.

The aerial views of the Earth and Moon on an atlas gifted to me as a child stayed in my memory: I found an aerial view of a beach in a postcard in my 30’s. I painted  my own version multiple times. Then I had this idea: use the bird’s eye view beach theme and make it a series of jewelry in that theme. That was followed by the Golf course series, The Floating Market, etc. Those became the Frameables Collection™.

From accidental events like mis-seeing or mis-hearing something, breaking a glass or a post card, I create newness: that which doesn’t exist yet. I am inspired.

The artwork is meant to be frivolous, playful and has a carefree touch even when dealing with serious subjects such as “Racism” or “War”. It's all about designing.

WHAT IS "OUI, THE PEOPLE 'NEWELRY'"?

'Newelry' is a new type of artwork. This evolved, playful and whimsical Newelry artwork is displayed on a matching painting encased in a beautiful custom plexiglass box with a door that opens. Newelry is about what we, as people, do and/or use in the western human civilization. Most of the Newelry pieces are conceptual in nature and are meant to show what has been made available to me in creating jewelry after I freed myself up from what jewelry has to be or should be. For those readers who don't know French, no problem! We have a play on words here. "Oui" in French is pronounced the same way as 'We' in English, and it means "Yes". "Newelry" is the combination of "new' and "jewelry". Therefore, to translate, we have: "Yes", The People New Jewelry". I am also a language teacher and I love creating new words! Playfulness is the essence!

PURPOSE

Making art to make art. I inspire and entertain. Artists are the visionaries of society. I believe art can be transporting and euphoric. Then, for me, the inspiration turns into fear of not knowing HOW to create (which can take sometimes many months even years). When it’s finished, I am intensely satisfied. I like to contribute to trees from the profits of my artwork.

FUTURE

Each of the unique and whimsical pieces come with a certificate of authenticity. This new conceptual jewelry artwork is called Oui, The People Newelry™. These rare creations will never be duplicated, potentially increasing their value!

My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.

After years of making earrings with unusual materials, one day I was inspired by this postcard to make 18 paintings of aerial ocean and beach views which have colors that don’t exist in reality. That led to asking myself - why not make an aerial view of a beach in a jewelry form? The Frameables Collection™ was born.

On the left are forms of baby vegetables created prior to my leave to America. Those were stylized (made in a simpler form) like what you see on the right, and used in my aerial views of beaches.
